Participation: Week of LDCFeedback Sessions: After LDC |
Over a week before the LDC, participants attend an orientation session. There they get instructions for doing preparation activities including completing an online personality inventory and an online survey, as well as how to access online materials about a fictitious organization. Participants also get directions about completing a two-page executive summary prior to their simulated work day. Everyone reads and prepares at their own pace, but it is likely that the preparation required is approximately 3-4 hours in the week leading up to the LDC.
Participation during the week of the LDC is broken into 2 components: remote and in-person.
The remote component requires participants to report for approximately 1.5 hours on either Monday or Tuesday evening of their chosen week. Then, the in-person component is held on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. During this time, participants will come to the career and services center to complete the remainder of the simulation objectives, learn how to interpret their WAVE work style reports, and meet with Deloitte Foundation representatives to discuss careers. The total time commitment during the week of participation is approximately 8.5 hours spread across the two days. After the LDC Day is over, feedback reports will be written to provide each participant with information about their strengths and areas of needed improvement on the leadership competencies that were assessed during the LDC. A 1-on-1 meeting will be scheduled with each participant and a graduate student from the Industrial-Organizational Psychology program who also served as an assessor during the LDC. The meeting will consist of reviewing the report and discussing developmental strategies going forward. The meetings are held within 2 weeks of the LDC Day and generally last approximately 1 hour.
