Basic Premise
In each LDC, students are placed in a simulated organization to "work" for the day on several tasks while they are observed and rated by trained assessors. As a result, each student receives a custom feedback report and 1-on-1 meeting within two weeks after their LDC.
|
Student Preparation
Prior to each LDC, students get acquainted with the simulated organization by visiting its website and reading through the various sources of information. They then write a 2-page executive summary. In addition, students fill out a personality inventory and other surveys that will aid self-awareness.

LDC Events
The Spring 2022 LDCs will be held remotely and have been adapted to a virtual environment that is nearly identical to the in-person experience. Remote LDC events take place in the evenings throughout the week (see details under Commitment tab).

Class of 2014 "The LDC experience was phenomenal. The activities felt very real and they make you think right on the spot. It was challenging while at the same time really fun! Regardless of what field we end up pursuing, the ability to lead, work, and communicate effectively with different people is crucial. LDC gives students the opportunity to receive feedback in the most honest way possible, so we can develop ourselves before we go out into the workforce."

Class of 2018 “When I first heard of the center I thought it was a great opportunity. I realize that an opportunity where professionals come in and sit down for a day to evaluate you is something that is typically only for executives. When I got there it was worth the hype. I remember going through these different simulations and thinking to myself, this could totally be a real life scenario. The feedback that I got was unbelievably helpful and thorough. It is a really special opportunity and I think every student should do it if they get the chance.”

Class of 2015 "I definitely recommend that students apply and go through the LDC because there is so much that relates not only to the interview setting, but when you land the job and start working. Take advantage of the resources. Apply and get genuine feedback that you won't get in an interview."

“Thinking back on my experiences with the LDC, I am confident in saying that the LDC helped provide insight into the working world and helped me identify areas of opportunity within my own skill set. Working in ambiguity, prioritizing multiple tasks, and communicating effectively were all part of the LDC, and are challenges that I face every day today. Looking back at my assessment and identifying effective ways to improve my skills or hidden weaknesses have helped me become a better manager." |
